Food Bloggers of Canada and FEAST Tweetup #2: Saskatoon

For our second Food Bloggers of Canada (FBC) Tweetup* (see our first here) we were at the Rook & Raven in Saskatoon, a charming little English style pub with plenty of beer options and interesting food choices.

We met Dan of Dan’s Good Side, Andrea of Baking in Saskatoon, Deborah of In The Stewing Pot, Bob of BS in the Kitchen, and even Vincci of Ceci N’est Pas un Food Blog made another appearance!  We will continue to expect (and welcome) her to drop in unexpectedly as we travel across the country.  We had a lovely time chatting about the Saskatoon food scene, got some good recommendations, and shared some stories from our trip.  It’s incredible to meet so many people doing inspiring things in the food scene.

We were also able to experience how small Saskatoon can feel (in a good way) when we saw Bob at the Saskatoon farmers’ market the next day; he was filming (what we can only guess is a promo) for Chef Dale MacKay’s new restaurant, Ayden Kitchen & Bar, opening in Saskatoon soon.  MacKay is a Saskatchewan-born Top Chef Canada winner who worked in Vancouver for a number of years (ensemble & ensembleTap) before he returned to his hometown to start something new.  Ayden will be a meat-centric homegrown take on comfort food, and is set to open very soon.  We wish we could have hung around and tasted what is sure to be some excellent food.

*a tweetup is simply a meet-up for people who tweet.  Join us for one in the future, when we roll through your city.

Thanks again to FBC for facilitating another great event.
